2005 Summary

The 1st Annual HVNHSCGMIGT was held on December 20, 2005 at the Aguila Golf Club in Phoenix, Arizona. The 2005 tournament slogan was “This time it’s personal!”  Aguila was selected for this inaugural tournament because it is a wide open layout and the inaugural participants needed the extra room for their drives. The 2005 participants were Brandon Heathcotte and Brock Heathcotte for Team Heathcotte, and Jason Robert and Matt Chew for Team Non-Heathcotte.

The round was competitive early with Matt Chew’s birdie at 3 marking a two point swing that kept the N-H team close. Through six holes Team Heathcotte held a slim 4-3 lead but Brock carded birdies on 7 and 8 and the match quickly turned into a rout. After Brandon and Brock both made par on number 10, the score stood 14-3 in favor of Team Heathcotte. Although Jason Robert led a comeback with three pars on the next four holes, it was too late for Team N-H to seriously challenge. Pars by Brandon at 16 and 17 iced the match in favor of Team Heathcotte.

The final tally showed Team H with 20 points to 10 for Team N-H. Brock set the tournament record for lowest 18-hole total (84) and lowest round in relation to par (+12). A good time was had by all.

An exceptionally windy day in south Phoenix caused the scores to balloon on several holes.
